TÜV-certified · Use in Zone 1 and Zone 2 according to the test report. Technical documents on request.
The Protector S49-I was tested by TÜV Industrie Service GmbH (TÜV Rheinland Group), test laboratory for explosion protection (test report no. 811-194/Ex-WEG-9417047-01-06, TÜV CERT certification body for explosion protection, Notified Body 0035).
Result: The pneumatic rail hook Protector S49-I does not present an ignition source when used as intended and in foreseeable fault situations. According to the test report the Protector S49-I can be used in Zone 1 and Zone 2.
The construction consists of electrically connected metallic materials so that electrical potentials are dissipated. Wherever contact or friction could occur in a fault situation, low-sparking materials such as bronze or brass are used.
The ATEX directive applies to equipment with its own potential ignition source. The TÜV test has shown that the Protector S49-I, by design, does not present such an ignition source – therefore it does not fall under the scope of the directive.
This is not a waiver of proof, but the result of a design that has been built for safety since 1982 and is inherently intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.
The conditions for safe use are documented in the test report and in the operating instructions. The assessment of a specific installation situation is the responsibility of the operator and the competent authorities.
