LPG loading · Rail tank cars
Safety that closes when it counts.
The Protector S49-I is the pneumatically controlled rail hook Protector S49-I for LPG loading on rail tank cars. In case of malfunction, leakage or emergency stop the safety chain can trigger, so that the bottom valves close and the transfer process is secured.
Focus
The use of a rail hook in LPG loading places special demands on the product and its supplier. As the inventor of the pneumatic rail hook we have known this application area since the first device sold in 1982.
Specialised on the Protector S49-I for LPG loading on rail tank cars – not on general explosion protection solutions.
Operating areas and technical limits result from the test report and the respective installation situation – transparent and comprehensible.
Planners, operators and technical purchasers receive relevant documents on request directly – by e-mail or telephone.
Product
In normal operation the rail hook holds the bottom valves open via the pull rope. The reduction of the control pressure can cause the rail hook to release the pull rope and the bottom valves to close. The actual function depends on the technical design and integration of the respective system.
Application
In case of a malfunction, leakage or activation of the emergency stop system the safety chain can trigger: The bottom valves close, the loading process is secured.
The Protector S49-I is integrated into the quick shut-off and emergency stop systems of the loading station. The exact integration depends on the design of the respective installation.
The Protector S49-I was tested by TÜV Industrie Service GmbH (TÜV Rheinland Group), test laboratory for
explosion protection.
The result: The pneumatic rail hook does not present an ignition source when used as intended and can be
used in Zone 1 and Zone 2 according to the TÜV test report.
The full test report is available as a download. Further technical documents are available on request.
